The group's towns are among the least diverse in the Patchwork Nation collection of community types: They are more than 95 percent white. These counties are found predominantly in the Midwest and have much higher than average employment in the agriculture sector. This is reliable GOP country. It gave President Bush more than 62 percent of its vote in 2004.
